I apologize that it's been so long, but between traveling, out processing, and being reunited with my family, it's all been a little bit busy. The short of it, however, is that it's all over. I'm posting from an apartment in Orlando, Florida, as my girlfriend gets ready to go eat some sushi with me.
Not even two weeks ago I was in Afghanistan dreaming about America, and now I'm really here. It's really just strange. Fifteen months of my life now seem to have zoomed and it's oddly almost as though it all never happened. Except for the fact that people's lives are completely different - one of my best friend's is getting married to a girl he wasn't even dating when I left and many people have graduated and are living in the "real world" now. Of course, my perspective is a bit different now, too. I have more respect for people from the Middle East and Southwest Asia and for their situation. And I appreciate little things quite a bit: grocery stores, smoothly paved roads, and the nearness of people I care about.
There is much more to tell and some wonderful pictures to show you of what it was like when we made it back to America and were united with our families, I promise I will post all of that very soon. But I just wanted to let you all know we're back safe and sound.
WELCOME HOME!!!! Hope you keep blogging as you re-enter society... keep us posted on how you are doing! Glad you made it back safe! Thanks for all you did over there! :)
